Public Service Lifetime Achievement Award

In every area of public life there are people whose life work leaves a lasting impact on the people and institutions they have touched. This award recognizes an individual whose career in public service, as an elected or appointed official, has exemplified a long-term commitment at the highest level to Colorado's nonprofit sector. Most important, his or her work has strengthened nonprofits' ability to build and sustain healthy communities in Colorado. To be considered for this award, nominees must have demonstrated extraordinary leadership and achievement.

Senator Maryanne (Moe) Keller

Throughout her career in public service, Senator Moe Keller has
been a tireless and effective advocate for Colorado children and families. Just in the past four years, her efforts have brought about funding for
full day kindergarten; insurance coverage for autism treatment;
mandatory work leave to allow parents to attend school activities;
seatbelt law enforcement; extension of water rights; and the Colorado Clean Indoor Air Act.

For 25 years she was a teacher for the deaf in Jefferson County and Denver Public Schools. She served six years in the Wheat Ridge City Council before being elected to serve eight years in the House of Representative, and another eight years in the Colorado Senate, where she serves on the Joint Budget Committee.

Sen. Keller’s commitment to the quality of life in Colorado has been recognized by organizations including Seniors’ Resource Center, Colorado Child Care Association, Jefferson Conservation District and the Upper South Platte Watershed Association, Colorado Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers, Colorado Association of School Nurses, National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, and many more.
