CSBG T&TA Capacity Building Program Announcement
On April 24 the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Office of Community Services (OCS) released a new program announcement soliciting applications for grant awards to fund up to 48 two-year statewide capacity building collaborations. The new announcement (HHS-2009-ACF-OCS-EQ-0037) is posted on the ACF web site at www.acf.hhs.gov/grants/open/HHS-2009-ACF-OCS-EQ-0037.html. A synopsis and application available on Grants.gov can be accessed here.
The new announcement will support statewide collaboration projects that include the following two major component areas:
1) Capacity-Building for Ongoing CSBG Programs, and
2) Strategic Planning and Coordination Supported by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).
Potential Funding
Estimated total program funding for Part 1 (Capacity Building for Ongoing CSBG Programs) is $1,200,000. Applicants may apply for up to $25,000 per year for Part 1.
Estimated total program funding for Part 2 (Strategic Planning and Coordination Supported by ARRA) is $3,840,000 per year. Applicants also may apply for up to $80,000 per year for Part 2.
Applicants must apply for both parts. Successful applicants may receive a total of $105,000 per year for combined awards under Part 1 and Part 2.
Pre-Application Conference Calls
The Office of Community Services will conduct two pre-application conference calls to address technical questions from potential applicant organizations. Calls will be scheduled on May 6 at 2:00 p.m. EST and on May 8 at 2:00 p.m. EST. The OCS will notify applicants about the call by posting call information on the OCS web site at www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/ocs/csbg.
ARRA Goals
It is expected that the projects supported through this announcement will be an important component of statewide efforts designed to:
- Ensure coordination of Community Action Program Recovery Act projects,
- Inform communities of available services,
- Document community results, and
- Prepare communities to sustain the impact of Recovery Act funds.
Applications must include a letter of endorsement from the State CSBG Lead Agency indicating that the applicant organization is recognized as a technical assistance provider for eligible entities and that projects supported through the grant will be conducted in partnership with the State CSBG Lead Agency.
