Denver Children’s Home (DCH) is seeking a Development Director who is responsible for initiating and implementing a comprehensive long-term fundraising strategy that supports the agency’s strategic plan. Development at DCH focuses on events, major gifts, foundation and corporate support, government support, planned giving, mailings and stewardship of donors. The Development Director provides leadership to a development team that is responsible for over $1,000,000 in annual giving.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible for supervision and management of all aspects of fundraising for Denver Children’s Home.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supervises the implementation of the development portion of the strategic plan
  2. Oversees day-to-day fundraising operations for Development Department
  3. Develops and implements an annual fund
  4. Oversees and monitors progress against goals
  5. Prepares monthly and quarterly progress reports on fund-raising activities
  6. Acts as staff liaison the Resource Development Committee; providing guidance and support
  7. Supervises annual foundation, individual and corporate donor cultivation plans to include: tracking donor contact, donor analysis, research and cultivation
  8. Manages grant proposals and reporting
  9. Manages foundation visits
  10. Supervises database maintenance, donor analysis reports, and donor acknowledgement process
  11. Supervises Development Manager
  12. Supervises Communications Coordinator
  13. Acts as a representative of Denver Children’s Home for development related internal and external activities

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Five years experience in fundraising and donor management
  • Proven fund-raising track record
  • Knowledge of development processes and fundraising principles
  • Understanding of Colorado and national fundraising communities
  • Experience in campaign planning and implementation
  • Knowledge of database management and donor data research
  • High level of self-motivation and ability to work independently and with a team
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and professional skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work on many complex projects simultaneously
  • Ability to prioritize work
  • Working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge database software is preferred

Must be able to pass a background check with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the FBI, must receive clearance through the Colorado Central Registry of Child Abuse and Neglect, must have valid Drivers License and must pass a DMV record check.
