Executive Director Community Foundation Serving Southwest Colorado The Community Foundation Serving Southwest Colorado, located in Durango and working in La Plata, Montezuma, and Archuleta counties, is a specialized non-profit committed to increasing philanthropy in southwest Colorado. We provide local donors with an opportunity to engage in philanthropy, help existing organizations build charitable funds, and award grants to charitable organizations. For more information and to view this job description visit www.swcommunityfoundation.org Position Description The Community Foundation seeks a dynamic leader to serve as its next Executive Director. The Executive Director is the organization’s top position and is accountable to the Board of Directors for providing vision, pursuing charitable fund raising strategies, attracting new donors, and coordinating the distribution of funds. Job Responsibilities Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: · Soliciting private monetary contributions through annual fund drives, planned and deferred giving, capital and major gift campaigns, endowment development, special events, and business partnerships and grants. · Identifying and cultivating potential benefactors from within the business, foundation, philanthropic, and non-profit communities. · Promoting the involvement of community leaders and other advocates to enhance the image and visibility of the Foundation; · Participating with the Board in formulating goals and objectives. · Developing and implementing marketing and resource development plans. · Serving as the foundation’s chief representative and spokesperson. · Developing budgets and ensuring the financial health of the organization. · Preparing a variety of written reports and grant applications. · Coordinating the work of the Board of Directors and its committees. · Producing and hosting events using volunteers and foundation staff. · Ensuring the maintenance and accuracy of all foundation records and data bases. Personal Qualifications · A degree in education, business or public administration, social sciences, marketing, communications or a closely related field is preferred. · Experience in institutional fund raising, advancement, development and marketing. · Experience working with individuals from diverse cultural, ethnic, economic, educational, age and gender backgrounds is desired. · Knowledge of fundraising activities and the instruments associated with gifts, endowments, planned gifts and corporate and foundation gifts and grants. · Demonstrated ability to create and execute a program vision and strategic plan that incorporates a comprehensive and diverse range of giving programs. · Ability to supervise and motivate staff and volunteers. · Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and oral. · An effective motivator and leader. Compensation This position is approximately 75% of full time with minimum benefits. Compensation will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience.
