The Development Coordinator leads the activities of the Development department, including Annual Campaign, Corporations and Foundations, Special Project Fund Raising and Local and National Government Support. Coordinates efforts for developing and implementing new strategies for current donors, new corporate donors and fundraising events to increase the revenue sources for Museo de las Americas.
This position requires continuous communication with the executive director, the membership coordinator and director of operations.
*Report to the executive director.
*Develop, design, implement and evaluate different strategies to increase revenue.
*Manage the use of E-Tapestry donor database to track membership and income allocation.
*Provide and implement comprehensive donor program including annual fund campaign and stewardship plan for retention, acquisition and upgrading donors.
*Work closely with the Grant Writer agency providing them with all the necessary documentation from all the museum departments.
*Apply for new small grants and the maintenance of selected current ones.
*Increase financial growth for the organization at a rate of no less than 5% per year based on the projected budget.
*Participate in the 7 county grant application and review process interview for SCFD Tier III.
*Present monthly report to the executive director to have an accurate financial forecast during the fiscal year.
*Develop appreciation events to increase donor participation no less than twice a year.
*Secure corporate sponsorship for exhibits and special events.
*Work closely with Membership Coordinator on membership management acquiring new members.
*Send initial thank you cards and formal gratitude letters, including tax-deductible receipts.
*Ensure all donors are acknowledge on all printed materials with PR coordinator
Education: Bachelor’s Degree (required) or Master’s Degree (preferred) from an accredited university or college in organizational development, business or public administration.
Skills and abilities
- Strong knowledge of museum best practices services and programing
- Strong strategic thinking skills related in the field of fundraising
- Effective dealing with individual and corporate donors
- Ability to multi-task and to work simultaneously in different events to bring resources to the institution. Including the 25th anniversary in May 2016.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing with diverse populations.
- Ability to work some weekends and evenings as needed.
