About the NSCD:
The National Sports Denver for the Disabled (NSCD) enables the human spirit through therapeutic recreation and sport. Each year more than 3,000 children and adults with disabilities participate in our programs to improve the quality of their lives. With specially trained staff, a custom adaptive equipment lab and over 1,200 volunteers, the NSCD provides therapeutic recreation through a variety of winter and summer sports and activities to individuals with almost any physical, cognitive, emotional and/or behavioral diagnosis. Year-round programming is based out of Winter Park Resort and Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
The grant writer is primarily responsible for developing and writing grant proposals to foundations and other grant-making organizations. The grant writer will assemble and submit grant requests, conduct prospect research, and maintain a calendar of submissions and other deadlines. The successful candidate will be able to write funding proposals and grant reports in a clear and compelling manner. Excellent writing, analytical and research skills are essential.
•Research and identify new foundation giving opportunities.
•Prepare and submit grant proposals and necessary reports prior to posted deadlines.
•Maintain a grants calendar to track eligible and recurring grant opportunities
•Manage grant contracts and fulfillment, works closely with related staff to assure grant contracts are completed per guidelines.
•Achieve revenue goals aligned to annual development plan
•Prioritize projects to keep multiple projects moving in a timely manner, meet deadlines and manage supplemental material required for proposals and grant reports
•Provide prompt acknowledgement of foundation gifts
•Perform other duties as assigned
•Prepare all receipting communication including tax receipt donation letters.
•Input cash receipts, in kind donations and financial transactions into Raiser’s Edge
•Assist in the implementation of donation campaigns and fundraising events.
Education and Experience Required:
•Bachelor’s degree in business, journalism, liberal arts, marketing, or equivalent
•Minimum of 2 years of experience in grant writing
•Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge software or other donor database
•Excellent knowledge of basic computer systems (outlook, word, excel, power point)
salary range $35,000 – $40,000
