Mission: The Anschutz Family Foundation supports Colorado nonprofit organizations that assist people to help themselves while nurturing and preserving their self-respect. The Foundation encourages endeavors that strengthen families and communities and advance individuals to become productive and responsible citizens. There is a special interest in self-sufficiency, community development and programs aimed at the economically disadvantaged, the young, the elderly and the disabled. The Foundation is also dedicated to funding efforts in rural Colorado. Fred and Marian Pfister Anschutz created the Anschutz Family Foundation in 1982 as a result of many years of successful gas and oil, real estate and ranching ventures. Sue Anschutz-Rodgers has continued her parents' legacy through her own business and ranching ventures and commitment to philanthropy. Sue served as the Foundation's first President and Executive Director and continued in that role until the end of 2006. She currently serves as Chair & President. Since its inception, the Foundation has provided grants of $30,553,764 supporting over 5,642 nonprofit organizations. The Foundation is intent on spreading its resources to many organizations and grants range from $5,000 to $10,000. The Foundation also aims for an even distribution of grants between organizations serving in Colorado's rural and urban communities.
