Evaluation

As organizations that serve the public, nonprofits have an obligation to demonstrate their contribution to the public good. An essential responsibility of every nonprofit organization is to assess the impact of its actions and to respond appropriately. A nonprofit also has the responsibility to collect and disseminate data using ethical methodologies.

Nonprofits should regularly measure their performance both in terms of effectiveness, such as outcomes and results of services, and efficiency, such as service delivery systems. They should share this information with their constituents and the public and use it to continually inform the planning process and improve the quality of their programs and activities.
