Internship Description: 

Organization Summary:  HomeAid Colorado is an integral part of the fight to end homelessness in Colorado.  Our mission is to rebuild lives for homeless families and individuals through housing and community outreach.  HomeAid develops, builds and maintains homes, apartments, and shelters to give Colorado’s homeless a place to call home.  Through our relationship with the home building industry, we garner in-kind donations of labor and materials, to build quality, dignified housing for other reputable nonprofits serving the homeless, at a fraction of the cost.

Internship Summary: This internship will provide the student with a broad look at the communications and fundraising needs of a nonprofit organization and will include opportunities to support the staff with coordinating community outreach projects and assisting in the planning and implementation of special events.

Event Coordination:

  • Assist in planning annual beer and wine tasting event, including logistics, sponsor solicitation, silent auction item recruitment, negotiation of in-kind contributions and volunteer management
  • Assist in planning groundbreaking and dedication events for HomeAid projects, including managing invitations and preparing awards and recognition materials for project donors
  • Track in-kind donations and monitor budgets for special events and community outreach drives
  • Oversee database management, sponsor tracking, invitations and RSVPs for all events
  • Monitor fulfillment of sponsorship benefits for event sponsors
  • Promote Hike for HomeAid, a summer-long awareness building and fundraising campaign
  • Assist in coordinating volunteer groups to plan HomeAid Care Days and community outreach drives

Marketing and Communication:

  • Work with communications and marketing team to create promotional materials for special events, community outreach drives and fundraising campaigns
  • Maintain and update HomeAid’s social media channels
  • Assist in all aspects of gift processing which includes data entry, donation tracking, reporting and preparing gift acknowledgments to ensure all donors are appropriately thanked in a timely and meaningful way
  • Update community calendars to increase visibility and involvement statewide  


  • Energetic, self-starter with positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be organized, detail oriented and have strong time management skills
  • Must have ability to work independently as well as part of a team 
  • Computer proficient, especially in Microsoft Office applications – Word, Excel and PowerPoint
