Adam's Camp utilizes many volunteers through its different programs. Adventure Camp Volunteers are put into teams with 3 counselors, 15 campers with special needs, and 6 volunteers. Adventure camp is a 5 day/night program for our older and more independent campers. Teams stay together in cabins at Snow Mountain Ranch and participate in many fun activities through out the week such as rafting, ziplining, alpine slide, hiking, sailing, etc. The volunteers work alongside counselors to help campers build friendships and independence. They encourage our camper's participation in all activities and aid with general logistics of the week.
Therapy Camp is for our younger campers ages 2-13. Therapy volunteers are placed on teams with 5 therapists, 5 campers, and 2 volunteers. Campers receive intensive therapy all week, as well as participating in fun activities such as canoeing, rock wall, tubing hill, zipline, etc. The volunteers assist therapists with general support, take part in team collaboration, provide goal-oriented photography, and help produce a digital therapy report for the families at the end of the week.
Both positions provide great experience for anyone wanting to work in this field as well as a fun way to accumulate community service hours.
