Job Description: 

The Admission Officer supports the Admission Office in all admission activities, with a primary focus on Middle School and multicultural outreach. The Admission Officer provides oversight of the Middle School admission process and helps to develop and implement strategies to assure that the Admission office meets its goals and challenges.  This is a full-time, school-year position.

Areas of Responsibility
  • Works with the Director of Admission & Financial Aid to set and support department goals and ensure that these goals are met
  • Ensures that the experience of families in the process is positive and student-centered
  • Oversees and coordinates the MS Host and Tour Guide programs
  • Guides Spanish-speaking families through all aspects of the admission process and, if needed, the financial aid process; continues to serve as a liaison and Spanish-speaking support to families once they are enrolled in the school
  • Is aware of trends in admission (locally, and nationally) so that changes are anticipated and implemented smoothly
  • Knows the CA faculty, curriculum, and students and is prepared to speak knowledgeably with prospective families 
  • Serves as a co-advisor of a MS advisory and co-sponsor of a MS Interim trip; additional responsibilities may include participating in the 7th and/or 8th grade class trips 
  • Attends school fairs and other activities that promote recruitment and community outreach
  • Manages MS outreach efforts through electronic communication utilizing SchoolAdmin and/or Blackbaud
  • Oversees the coordination of the MS Admission Committee and supports members as needed 
  • Supports the planning and execution of major admission events of the year: Open House, Visit Days, Accept Parties, New Family Orientation Events
  • Meets regularly with the Director of Admission & Financial Aid and with the Admission staff 
  • Represents the Admission Office at MS divisional meetings and SPEAK events
  • Represents the Admission Office at the Fall, Winter and Spring Coaches meetings
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and at least 3-5 years of admission, non-profit, and/or independent school experience
  • A collaborative team player who will partner effectively with faculty and staff
  • Problem solver; willingness to find new solutions and share ideas in a constructive way
  • Knowledge of the admission field and independent schools, including principles of good practice
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a diverse group of people including students, parents, faculty and staff
  • Effective interviewing techniques
  • Ability and willingness to become involved in the life of CA
  • Calm and helpful manner; friendly and approachable style
  • Highly organized and punctual
  • Technologically literate
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; good listener

  • Represents CA positively to both internal and external constituents

  • Fluency or high level of proficiency in Spanish required; ability to conduct tours/interviews in Spanish and correspond effectively with Spanish-speaking families
  • Flexibility to work long hours, including weekends and evenings during busy times
