General Description
Child Care Licensing & Support Navigator assists individuals who want to obtain a child care license and/or increase the level of quality of care provided. The position also addresses barriers to becoming licensed within the county. Role includes: identifying providers, making and maintaining contact, establishing and implementing quality improvement processes, recruit providers to receive Colorado Child Care Assistance Program subsidy, etc. This position works closely with Promises for Children (PFC) staff and Weld County Department of Human Services (WCDHS) for ensuring that provider activities are of sufficient quality to qualify for Colorado Child Care Assistance Program (CCCAP) through WCDHS. Plans/organizes/implements annual speaker for child care providers, foster and kinship and DHS CCCAP staff. Responsible for DHS grant oversite and implementation.

    Onboarding to licensure process for family child care home providers:

    • Assist Recruitment Specialist at events if necessary to garner interest in child care options.
    • Respond to inquiries within two business days, track outreach in database.
    • Market recruitment efforts with staff and identify new recruitment opportunities.
    • Meet with interested recruits (e.g., in the office at coffee shops/public meeting places or in their homes). The may include occasional evening and weekend hours.
    • Be familiar with requirements for a family child care licensure to best support recruits through the process.
    • Support providers through pre-licensing/licensing process including paying for direct cost associated with becoming licensed.
    • Maintain case management database of FFN providers and providers pursuing licensure.
    • Provide monthly written updates to Weld Department of Human Services

    Provider Quality Improvement Support:

    • Assist with coordination of Annual Speaker for child care providers and DHS staff (foster, kinship, CCCAP. Arranging speaker(s), room scheduling, promotion, taking registrations, and creating certificates and evaluations with other team members.
    • Introduce/recruit FFN providers and providers pursuing licensure to accept CCCAP (if applicable) through WCDHS.
    • Remain current with children’s issues in Weld County, Colorado, and nationwide.
    • Identify barriers to the licensure process, work with other PFC staff to mitigate those barriers.
    • If time allows:
    • Identify existing family, friend, and neighbor (FFN) providers and others that would like to like support for quality (professional development, coaching and materials). Refer them to resources and provide direct resources when time allows.
    • Advise ongoing formal and informal providers on business best practices for maintaining their businesses.
    • Manage quality improvement and certification processes for FFN providers, providers pursuing licensure, and licensed providers who do not qualify for other UWWC grants; including the offering of quality improvement trainings and coaching.
    • Create awareness of and promote to providers local and surrounding area professional development opportunities (i.e. EQIT, Mile High United Way conference for Spanish-only speaking providers, etc.).
    • Develop and maintain relationships with local child care licensure staff.
    • Identify providers interested in the licensure process, including referrals from WCDHS and other sources, and support them with various resources and funding streams as necessary.
    • Participate in appropriate child care associations, Promises for Children Professional Development Committee, and applicable statewide meetings and events deemed appropriate by supervisor.
    • Submit reports on trainings, conferences, and meetings attended, as well as other activity for monthly accomplishments and year end report.
    • Develop and maintain positive relationships with agencies, organizations, volunteers, funders, and community members throughout Weld County.
    • Increase knowledge of Early Childhood Education (ECE) theory and best practices.

    United Way of Weld County General

    • Support and promote the mission, values, goals and objectives of UWWC, including representing UWWC in professional organizations and the community (as assigned).
    • Support fundraising efforts of UWWC and activities that support UWWC.
    • Support UWWC annual events, UWWC disaster response, and other activities as assigned.
    • Attend weekly staff meetings and in service opportunities.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    Requirements/Qualifications
    • Associates degree or a minimum of two years of professional experience, preferred.
    • Early care and education experience and/or familiar with child care licensure experience/process, preferred.
    • Strong level of comfort with technology, including cloud based databases. MS Office including Outlook, Excel, and word.
    • Ability to support adults lacking technology skills with technological tasks.
    • Ability to navigate and learn new information systems.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Detailed orientation with the ability to connect work to the big picture.
    • Organizational skills.
    • Advertising and marketing experience, including online and social media, preferred.
    • Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple deadlines.
    • Ability to work effectively with groups and individuals that represent a variety of needs, abilities, socioeconomic backgrounds, educational and early childhood philosophies.
    • Willingness to work collaboratively with other employees and supervisors.
    • Bi-lingual preferred.
    Compensation/Benefits

    Full-time salary non-exempt EOE

    Starting range: $34,250+ annually depending on experience
