Job Description: 

The Community Benefit Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of the Delta Dental of Colorado (DDCO) Community Benefit program strategy. This position is responsible for the overall strategy as well as the day-to-day management and execution of activities. Oversee the special projects coordinator, who is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of community benefit projects, including event sponsorship and volunteer opportunities.

This position works closely with the executive director in developing programs and activities that support DDCO in achieving its mission and maintaining its non-profit status. This position will work closely and in alignment with all members of the foundation’s team to foster strategic alignment of programs and information as well as positioning of brand and mission.

This position will develop relationships and act as the liaison to the DDCO staff to foster partnerships and ensure efforts are in place to identify opportunities to support employee engagement and volunteerism, special mission-related projects, and community giving activities including the United Way campaign. This position will build strong partnerships with company departments to collaborate and leverage opportunities that support DDCO in achieving its mission.

Areas of Responsibility
  • Develop and implement the DDCO community benefit strategy, working in collaboration with the foundation team, and company departments, especially the human resources and marketing departments
  • Manage the development and execution of activities, including projects, sponsorships and events, and leadership participation in community boards.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with strategic community partners and organizations that align with the company’s mission
  • Create new opportunities to engage employees in acts of volunteerism within DDCO and throughout the community that aligns with the mission
  • Supervise, set goals, monitor performance, and coach the special projects coordinator
  • Direct, develop and deliver comprehensive communications for internal and external audiences across all forms of media
  • Lead and manage multiple complex projects with competing priorities, while balancing a wide variety of logistical details
  • Collaborate with the communications manager regarding communications for community engagement events, sponsorships and activities
  • Provide strategic consultation and work collaboratively with the foundation’s director of programs, program officers and communications manager to strategically align and strengthen programs and activities
  • Oversee mission-related special projects in support of executive director and DDCO CEO
  • Develop metrics and track performance of all community benefit projects, grants and activities. Regularly report results to Executive Director, CEO and the Board of Trustees
  • Convene a community benefit committee of employees that meets regularly to advise, provide feedback, and consult on the community benefit strategy
Requirements/Qualifications
  • • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills with the ability to communicate and interact with all levels of personnel and the general public
  • • Ability to manage demanding deadlines and changing priorities
  • • Ability to lead and motivate internal and external resources
  • • Strong analytical skills
  • • Bachelor’s degree preferred in public administration, public affairs, public health, health care administration, social work or related field
  • • Five or more years experience in philanthropy, corporate social responsibility, non-profit, public health, healthcare or related field. Experience in the oral health field a plus.
  • • Strong project management skills with experience developing and executing large-scale grants or projects with multiple organizations
  • • Ability to be strategic, think creatively, and be innovative in designing and implementing corporate social responsibility activities
  • • Ability to effectively design, execute and manage workplans and budgets, attaining desired outcomes
  • Ability to work well with people of diverse backgrounds, perspectives and cultures
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to lead staff and work as part of a team
  • Strong understanding of ways to engage and support employees through volunteerism
  • Good organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple tasks and to meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of word processing, power point and spreadsheet computer applications. Experience with online research tools preferred
