Job Description: 

Our organization is currently seeking a Development Director to oversee our donor relations program and manage our fundraising initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing our nonprofit’s fundraising campaigns, communicating with current and prospective donors, and building a strong development team for our organization. This position involves managing individual and corporate gifts as well as planned and annual giving campaigns. Areas of Responsibility

Develop and oversee our annual fundraising program • Identify prospective individual and corporate donors and develop strategies to cultivate those relationships • Grow a major gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation of major donors  • Build the planned giving program • Maintain ongoing communication with private and corporate donors • Research donor relations programs at local, state and federal institutions • Ensure timely and accurate deliveries to funders. • Coordinate fundraising special events • Make public appearances/accept speaking engagements to share information about The Matthews House with the community • Staff Board Development Committee meetings • Oversee fundraising database and tracking systems • Collaborate with staff on the management and planning of fundraising event and donor receptions • Develop printed marketing collateral related to fundraising in collaboration and advertising department. • Monthly- Annual written communication to donors and the community at large, including the annual report. Oversee creation of publications to support fundraising activities • Maintain gift recognition programs • Demonstrate professional conduct at all times • Perform other related duties as requested

Requirements/Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college or university. Experience and/or formal accreditation programs may be substituted for formal education
  • 3+ years’ fundraising experience and techniques
  • Possess the skills to work with and motivate staff, board members and other volunteers
  • Have the desire to get out of the office and build external relationships
  • Be a “self-starter” and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls
  • Be organized and exhibit “follow through” on tasks and goals
  • Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self confidence, common sense and good listening ability.
  • Foundation relationship experience
  • Excellent written, interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must embrace the mission of The Matthews House
  • Proven public relations, writing and marketing skills
Compensation/Benefits

$50,000 - $63,000
