Want to make a difference? Join our team of dedicated professionals providing support and treatment to at-risk children and youth facing mental health, child welfare and criminal justice issues. Through our Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU), Staff Secure Residential Unit (SSR), hospital diversion program (New Vistas) and Jefferson Hills Academy, we use some of the most current practices, interventions and protocols to address the complex needs of vulnerable youth and their families.

As a cook/dietary staff member in our residential treatment and education programs, you will prepare meals for both youth and staff, including cooking, delivery and clean-up of breakfast, lunch, dinner and special occasion meals.

Schedule:

Tuesday -Thursday 12:00PM- 7:30PM

Friday- 10:00AM- 7:30PM

Saturday 9:00AM- 7:30PM

Areas of Responsibility

• Follow recipes for cooking of batches or large quantities, including complying with requirements for temperature controls and cooking times.
• Adhere to specific schedules for preparation, serving and clean-up of meals and snacks.
• Ensure compliance with USDA Food Program requirements.
• Maintain kitchen in a neat, orderly, and safe fashion. Coordinate the cleaning and sanitation of the kitchen to stay in compliance licensing and code requirements.
• Consistently demonstrate adherence to safety and health processes, policies and regulations
• Work proactively with other departments relating to dietary needs of staff and residents to ensure requirements are met.
• Respond to special dietary requests with varied menus.
• Prepare trays that fulfill dietary requirements for residents staying in their residential units for meals.
• Work on special projects as needed, including meals for special events, groups, or meetings.
• Notify Dietary Coordinator promptly with concerns regarding maintenance needs of the kitchen/serving areas.

Skills/ Requirements
• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be 21 years old to comply with applicable laws.
• One to two years’ food service experience required. Experience working in a school or residential treatment facility strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to follow recipes; preference for experience doing batch cooking for large groups
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
• Must pass stringent background investigation and pre-employment drug screen.
• Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
