Donation Center Assistant

Description: The Donation Center Assistant will have the opportunity to directly engage and assist donors with their in-kind donations of clothing, shoes, toys, household items, and more, as well as, educate donors on all of the organizations programs and services and encourage them to become involved with the organization in a greater capacity. The Donation Center Assistant will assist in training and guiding volunteers in the Donation Center. In addition, the Donation Center Assistant will offer help and support to other areas of the Donation Center included, but not limited to, driving to pick up donations, organizing the warehouse and supporting staff as needed.

Reports To: Donation Center Manager

Areas of Responsibility

Areas of Responsibility: 

  • Assist donors dropping off in-kind donations.
  • Ensuring inventory in & out is correctly recorded.
  • Engaging donors to become more involved with A Precious Child by promoting our programs and services, as well as opportunities to volunteer, host a drive, or make a monetary contribution.
  • Processing, sorting and organizing in-kind donations.
  • Assist and train other volunteers in the Receiving Area as appropriate.
  • Communicate in-kind needs to the Store Manager and Donation Center Manager.
  • Manage daily and periodic checklist for maintenance of the Donation Center (i.e. sweeping, wiping table tops, returning supplies to appropriate holding place, etc.).
  • Capture donor stories and pictures for Facebook posts. 
  • Maintain safety standards to meet & keep donors and volunteers safe and free from injuries.
  • Covering the following off-hours shifts:
    • Every 2nd Thursday of the month 4:30pm-7:15pm
    • Every 3rd Wednesday of the month 4:30pm-7:15pm
    • Every 2nd Saturday of the month 8:30am-12:15pm
  • Serving as a backup driver of agency vehicles for donation pickups.
  • Able to lift between 30lbs to 50lbs at a time.
  • Enthusiasm for the mission of A Precious Child and the children and families we serve.
  • Self-motivated, good organizational skills, flexibility, collaborative skills, and able to multi-task and works well with people.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of people and show sensitivity to individual differences.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with other staff members, volunteers, and clients.
  • A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Compensation: Commensurate with experience. Benefits include paid vacation and holidays, 75% of health and dental insurance premiums paid, 401k plan with 2% match after one year of employment.
