Implementation Specialist/Reading

The Carmel Hill Fund is a private non-profit organization whose mission is to connect students with books.  Our goals are the following; students will view themselves as readers, read a wide range of literature and understand how reading impacts their life.  The Colorado office works with the underserved population in Denver Public Schools to achieve these goals by providing necessary professional support, books, and technology to individual schools.  Our staff of 12 professionals work with 63 public schools in Denver and the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Denver.

 

The Implementation Specialist (IS) is directly responsible for managing and executing our school partnerships that lead to an effective independent reading practice in every classroom.  In this role, you will build relationships across organizations, plan, problem solve, and measure results for students, faculty and administrations.  This is a dynamic and exciting role where you will have the opportunity to create tangible impact on students’ success.
 

 

 

 

 

Areas of Responsibility

The Implementation Specialist will:

  • Guide and mentor teachers, administrators and staff through the implementation process via presentations, coaching and modeling
  • Monitor participation in the independent reading practice and quality at multiple levels
  • Work with teachers to foster awareness of literature and book selection skills
  • Review and oversee book, computer and tech purchases using critical SOP’s
  • Thoroughly understand the research of independent reading, literacy and literature
  • Collaborate with peers to create and embrace best practices
  • Participate in ongoing personal development

Knowledge, Skills and Characteristics of a successful Implementation Specialist

  • Ability to communicate with administrators, teachers and staff with tact and respect based on a thorough understanding of their needs, goals and challenges
  • Ability to proactively address obstacles and problem solve
  • Ability to manage a complex workflow
  • Ability to identify and set priorities and make decisions
  • Clear understanding of data collection and analysis, pattern recognition, and assessment of causes and remedies
  • Ability to balance the objective goals with maintaining a high level of rapport
  • Ability to flourish in an intense, public school environment
  • Teaching, library development, reading and presentation skills.
Requirements/Qualifications
  • Minimum of three years working in education/non-profit field is preferred
  • Prior coaching/facilitating or management level experience preferred
  • Degree in Education preferred, yet a background in human development with practical training and coaching will be considered
Compensation/Benefits
  • The job will be full time, full year.
  • Our office is located in Boulder, Colorado.  This is not a remote work position.
  • A reliable vehicle and cell phone are required.
  • The salary range for this position is between $55,000 and $75,000 per year, with paid health insurance and paid vacation time offered.
  • The position will begin June 2020.
