Want to make a difference? Join our team of dedicated professionals providing support and treatment to at-risk children and youth facing mental health, child welfare and criminal justice issues. Through our Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU), Staff Secure Residential Unit (SSR), hospital diversion program (New Vistas) and Jefferson Hills Academy, we use some of the most current practices, interventions and protocols to address the complex needs of vulnerable youth and their families.

The Intake Coordinator is responsible for the overall admissions into residential units that provide care and treatment for children and youth in need of mental health, human services, and/or youth corrections services . The intake coordinator interacts with diverse stakeholders including internal staff, outside agencies and youth and families in crisis.

-One Overnight Shift per Week

Areas of Responsibility

• Facilitates admission of new clients through communication with referral sources, pre-screening for admission criteria, entering information into the electronic medical record, and communicating with multi-disciplinary team.
• Manages BHO/insurance/contracts for admissions in cooperation with external stakeholders to ensure all information and processes are completed to support billing, including acquiring initial authorization and collecting insurance information.
• Completes the pre-admit screening process with the Emergency Reporter or the Emergency Room Reporter.
• Ensures that all information that is pertinent to the intake is obtained from the Emergency Services Team and/or the Emergency Room, i.e. Psychiatric Evaluation, Medical Clearance, etc.
• Collaborates with the nurse on duty and contacts physicians with relevant information and updates.
• Coordinates initial intake processes with other team members, including meeting with family members to complete initial intake documentation and relevant insurance information.
• Schedules family intake therapy sessions. Assists in contacting parent(s)/guardian(s) to complete intake information and acquire consents for treatment
• Creates client chart and intake folder, ensuring it is complete and accurate.
• Performs as admissions liaison between Jefferson Hills and stakeholders to facilitate efficient, professional communication and problem solving activities.

Education/Qualifications/Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree, preferable in a mental health field
• Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing including strong computer skills. Experience working with medical records a plus.
• Able to work in fast paced environment helping people in crisis and dealing with a variety of stakeholders including hospitals, parents/guardians, medical transport, on site staff and insurance providers.
• Must be organized, able to prioritize and handle high volume of calls.
