 Position Description

 As a member of the philanthropy team, the Philanthropy Writer supports the annual budget of the National Service Office for Nurse-Family Partnership and contributes to the success of the organization’s multi-year scaling and strategic plans.  The Philanthropy Writer is responsible for supporting relationship managers throughout the country, as they strive to realize annual fundraising goals.  Responsibilities include developing cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship pieces for individual and institutional donors and prospects, creating template materials representing key needs and opportunities, and writing proposals, reports, cases for support and other collateral and communications materials for donors and prospects.

The Philanthropy Writer works under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Institutional Giving.

This position may be based in Denver, CO or elsewhere in the country as agreed. 

Areas of Responsibility
  • Assists with cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors and prospects by writing proposals, reports, and letters of inquiry, cases for support and other fundraising materials. 
  • Creates template materials representing key areas of fundraising focus throughout the country and strategic needs and priorities.
  • Creates and updates templates, such as acknowledgement letters and fact sheets as needed.
  • Build presentations and generates talking points as requested.
  • Creates customized cultivation and stewardship materials for donors and prospects as needed.           
  • Works closely with program staff, marketing and communications staff, relationship managers and others as needed.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of experience in communications or fundraising field.
  • Experience with nonprofit organizations preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Substantial experience in writing persuasive communication materials, preferably grant proposals, letters, reports and other fundraising materials.
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency using fundraising database programs, MS Office programs, Page Layout, Digital Image, and research and data analysis tools.
  • Proven ability to present convincing and engaging arguments for support.
