Essential Functions of Role

This position is accountable for the development and management of internal and external research projects at the Davis Phinney Foundation and for providing guidance and advice to the organization.  The Research Program Manager will design, collect and analyze data and provide evidence-based recommendations, which will be used to improve on the delivery of our programmatic goals. 



  • Facilitate External Research Grant Program
    • Define annual quality of life research grant making goals and objectives
    • Manage the Foundation’s annual grant process and life cycle
    • Publicize annual grant process to ensure a strong application pool, targeting key researchers/institutions
    • Nurture relationships with SAB members, grant applicants and award recipients
  • Facilitate Internal Program Evaluation
    • Design and implement programmatic evaluations (The Victory Summit®, Every Victory Counts®, Sidekicks™) as interventions in behavioral change in people with Parkinson’s
    • Monitor and analyze data on an ongoing basis
    • Collaborate with other program managers to integrate key learning from the evaluations into programmatic offerings
  • Create and manage the Foundation’s research budget
  • Oversee the Science Advisory Board including new member recruitment
  • Produce a quarterly quality of life research blog post based on Foundation funded research and/or external research with guidance from the Content Manager
  • Be the voice and face of the Foundation on research topics, by developing a profound understanding of Parkinson’s research, with a focus on quality of life
  • Collaborate with the Foundation’s development team to provide scientific updates to key donors.  Accompany development team on individual donor visits, as needed 
  • Build relationships with industry experts and Parkinson’s advocacy groups, integrating key learnings into programmatic offerings and propelling the Foundation forward as thought leaders in Parkinson’s quality of life research
Areas of Responsibility

General Responsibilities

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time representing the Davis Phinney Foundation at select Parkinson’s scientific meetings and conferences
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends
  • Support and build the Foundation’s reputation as a leading resource for living well tools
  • Clearly communicate the importance and usability of the Foundation’s programs
  • Assist in other activities on behalf of the Foundation
  • Bachelor’s degree (graduate degree preferred)
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working in program assessment / evaluation
  • Understanding of research processes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with data collection and data analytics
  • Highly proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint

Salary range is between $42,000 - $48,000, commensurate with background and experience, plus paid vacation, sick time and health insurance benefits. The salary and benefits for this position are prorated based on a 32-hour work week (.80 FTE).
