Colorado Nonprofit Association will continue to offer educational and training opportunities for nonprofit professionals while following government guidelines and public health recommendations to keep our community safe. This session will be presented virtually via Zoom technology at no cost to participants. Contact Nick DiTulio ( with thoughts or questions.

Volunteer Safety During COVID-19

Risk Management can be a scary and challenging topic for many in the field of volunteer engagement to grasp their arms around, but especially now as we consider when and how we can welcome volunteers back on-site.

In this session participants will learn about the following:

  • CDC best practices for all businesses
  • Policies Care and Share Food Bank has implemented for volunteer safety during COVID-19
  • How other local nonprofits are addressing volunteer safety
  • Keeping volunteers engaged
  • Communicating to the public if you have a staff or volunteer test positive for COVID-19

Participants will be encouraged to share their own questions, concerns, challenges and strategies. We will build new best practices through our collective wisdom and experience.

Event Description

Eric Pizana

I am passionate about making Colorado Springs a better place for everyone to live in. I've found my niche in helping local non-profits be more successful in Volunteer Engagement.

In 2018, I co-presented at the Colorado Non-profit Association’s Non-profit Day Conference on the topic of Volunteer Energy: A Renewable Resource. I was invited back to host the April 2018 Volunteer Engagement Round-Table about Working with Volunteer Groups with Intellectual Disabilities.

In 2018, I received the Colorado Springs Business Journal Rising Star award, which recognizes young professionals who are making a difference at their companies and within our community.

Count me in to help develop a young person into a happy and successful adult. Since 2016, I have used my energy to volunteer at Inside Out Youth Services as a youth facilitator and help on board new volunteers for the organization.

I like trying anything once, and spending time with my family and friends.
