Your nonprofit Board of Directors plays a critical role in nonprofit leadership and sustainability. Investment in reviewing and refining best practices and innovative strategies will further increase engagement and effectiveness, therefore better serving the organization's mission.

This session is for active nonprofit board members to learn:

  • Foundational governance roles & responsibilities
  • Shared leadership between board and staff
  • The role of the board in ensuring necessary financial and human resources (e.g. fundraising and chief executive oversight and support)
  • Organization and board lifecycles

Participants will receive templates, checklists, and resources for implementation following the training. Governance trainings provide a unique and important opportunity for board members' professional development and investment in the organizational mission.

Emily Davis,  Emily Davis Consulting

Emily Davis is the President of Emily Davis Consulting, Fundraising and the Next Generation author; BoardSource Senior Governance Consultant; and 21/64 multigenerational family philanthropy certified advisor. She serves nonprofits and philanthropists through planning, facilitation, and publications on board governance, philanthropy, multigenerational issues, and nonprofit startup management. 

Emily has served in board and staff leadership roles for local, national and international direct services and grant making nonprofits. Emily has served as a founder, grant maker, staff, and volunteer across a wide variety of organizations locally and nationally. She has her Masters in Nonprofit Management from Regis University and is certified in Essential Facilitation TM. Emily was named one of the 40 Under Forty Boulder Valley in 2015.

Qualifies for Excellence in Nonprofit Principles and Practices. Completion of a post-training evaluation is required for this training to count toward recognition.
