Smith & Lehmann Consulting is a small, woman-owned consulting firm based in Fort Collins, Colorado that has been providing evaluation, facilitation, and strategic planning services to nonprofits, government agencies, and private foundations since 2008. Our participatory approach promotes authentic community engagement that has supported a range of projects, from large systems change initiatives addressing society’s most difficult issues, to small community-based projects aimed at improving the lives of local people. We collaborate closely with our clients throughout all phases of work, building their capacity to ask questions, develop strategies to answer them, and interpret results so that decisions are grounded in multiple perspectives and made responsibly. Our mission is to generate learning that aids organizations in producing better outcomes for individuals, families, and communities.
We seek out voices that have historically been excluded from community conversations, and to be aware of the local context in which people live their lives. We believe in the ability of local communities to create change and value the diverse perspectives of individuals that live there.
At Smith & Lehmann, we operate through a social justice lens and believe that being inclusive of different voices and perspectives creates space where great things can happen. The main focus of our work is in support of organizations and agencies that serve disadvantaged and underserved populations; our recent partnerships have promoted the well-being of individuals experiencing homelessness, low-income single-parent families, juvenile justice-involved youth, and the LGBTQIA+ community.
In working with our clients, we focus on creativity, clarity, flexibility, and use. We help our clients navigate the path to their goals by working as a partnership and communicating regularly. Above all else, we produce plans and products that are actionable--informed by client needs, but also by the circumstances in which they work, and their capability to use results.
