There are more ways than ever to be a part of the Fall Conference! Present an educational session, facilitate a roundtable, or share your expertise one-on-one in the Consultants' Corner.

Educational Sessions

What types of sessions are we looking for?
Conference sessions will be selected by a committee, so the Colorado Nonprofit Association is unable to give any definite answers to this question. However, some general guidelines are:

• Is the topic relevant to the nonprofit sector? Will it be of interest to the nonprofit staff, board members and volunteers who attend the Fall Conference?
• What unique perspective or expertise will this topic and presenter(s) provide?
• How will the topic fit into the Conference topic areas? (See the list at the top of the page.)
• Is the topic's focus clear and well-defined? Will attendees feel that they learned what they came to learn?
• Will attendees feel that they learned solid, real-world information that they can put to use in their own organizations right away?
• How will the presenter(s) make the session engaging and interactive?
• What references have the presenter(s) provided indicating that they are knowledgeable and engaging speakers?

Roundtable Sessions

New in 2009: facilitate a roundtable discussion! How will roundtable sessions work?

• Roundtable sessions will be small-group topic discussions planned and led by 3 - 5 facilitators. Please invite colleagues to join your facilitator team and work with them in advance to plan the discussion.
• Sessions will be 1 hour 20 minutes in length.
• Sessions should begin with at least 10-15 minutes of presentation and educational content from the facilitator team.
• The roundtable discussion segment should be small-group discussions, each led by a facilitator who guides the discussion and adds their own expert perspective to the conversation. This is an opportunity for attendees to present their challenges or questions about the session topic, and to hear solutions and answers from one another and from their group facilitator.
• Small-group discussions can break out around subtopics within the session topic, or simply split participants into smaller groups to allow for more interactive - and manageable - conversation.
• The session's discussion topics must be provided to the Colorado Nonprofit Association in print-ready electronic format by October 2nd for reproduction and distribution to all session participants.

Consultants' Corner

The deadline for Consultants' Corner has been extended! We'll accept applications through 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 14.

How will the Consultants' Corner work?

Consultants' Corner is presented in partnership with Community Resource Center.

• Consultants' Corner consulting sessions will connect nonprofit staff, board and volunteers with topic experts for answers to their questions. For instance, a CPA may provide advice about the new Form 990, or a consultant specializing in governance may provide advice about a board's fiduciary responsibilities.
• The sessions will be held during afternoon conference sessions.
• Conference attendees will have the opportunity to sign up with a consultant to talk about the topic of their choice.
• Consulting sessions will be 15-20 minutes each. One conference session (1 hour 20 minutes) will consist of two back-to-back consulting sessions.
• Consultants' Corner is an opportunity for you to introduce yourself to prospective clients, and we hope that these sessions will result in new business for you. However, we ask that you use these sessions to provide substantive answers to the best of your ability in the time allotted, and refrain from actively marketing products or services.
