Amount: $194 million nationwide

Overview: Funds are available for providing principle amounts for direct farm operating loans under section 211 of the Consolidated Farm and Rural Development Act.  The targeted recipients of these funds are farmers and ranchers.

How to access funds: The funds are administered by the Farm Service Agency of the US Department of Agriculture.

Grant Opportunity: Rural Water and Environmental Program

Type of Grant: Federal competitive grant

Amount: $3.7 billion nationwide ($986 million in grants, $2.8 billion in direct loans)

Matching funds requirement: Matching funds of 20 percent of the total project cost from non-RFP grant sources are required.

Overview: Funds are available as loans, grants, and loan guarantees for projects which provide drinking water, sanitary sewers, and solid waste and storm drainage facilities in rural areas. Grants are also available to nonprofits to provide technical assistance and training to assist rural communities with their water, wastewater, and solid waste problems.

How to Access Funds: The grant process is administered by the Rural Development Office of the US Department of Agriculture. To apply for these funds nonprofits should apply directly to USDA field offices in Colorado. 

Distribution Timeline: Funds are awarded through a revolving grant process. No timeline for the dissemination of funds is currently available.
