Job Summary

The Accountant completes financial transactions including accounts payable, accounts receivable (invoicing and cash receipts), bank and account reconciliations and assists with financial reporting. Duties include data entry, check generation, ensuring checks are mailed and filing. Duties also include preparation of deposits and ensuring deposits are mailed. Other duties may be assigned from time to time by the Senior Accountant or Chief Financial Officer.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skill and Ability:

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Clear written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate proactively.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in detailed work.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet and general ledger software.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • The following computer skills are required of applicants: proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and the internet.
  • Experience with QuickBooks and Sage MIP accounting software a plus.
  • This position requires: personal and professional accountability; self-management and initiative; and dedication to quality improvement, professional integrity, and promotion of company financial health.
  • Must demonstrate accuracy, efficiency and excellent organizational skills.

Education/Experience

· Associates degree is required, with progress towards a BA /BS preferred

· 1-2 years of experience in an entry level accounting position
