Geographic Information System

The Colorado Nonprofit GIS map provides a snap shot of your nonprofit community. It was created to help nonprofits, funders, community members and government gain a better understanding of the nonprofits in their area and also to help identify opportunities for collaboration or gaps in services. Ultimately, we hope to create a tool that will help nonprofits and the community strengthen their relationships while raising awareness about the impact of nonprofits throughout the state.

How to use the GIS Map

The Colorado Nonprofit GIS map allows users to search for 501(c)(3) nonprofits by city, county, legislative district, keyword and mission. For the best results try narrowing down your results by searching in a specific geographic region in addition to a focus area.

As this tool is newly created we are still fixing minor bugs. Please e-mail gis@coloradononprofits.org or call Sara Raab at (303) 832-5710 so that we can address any remaining issues.

Where does this information come from?

Information comes from publicly available IRS and Colorado Secretary of State data, and from Colorado Nonprofit Association members. We will update the data in the GIS map periodically to include the most accurate information. Not all organizations are required to file with each of these agencies and information for your organization may not be complete. Help us to gather this information by following the instructions below.

How can I update my information?

If you would like to update any of your organization’s information you can fill out this form. You will need to know your EIN number, and then you can help us to fill in information about your organization. If you have any further questions please e-mail gis@coloradononprofits.org. Information will be updated as quickly as possible

Can I export a list of the results from my search?

Users are not able to export a list of their search results. This function was not included in order to protect nonprofit organizations from individuals who would use a contact list for direct personal gain or sending spam.

What can I do when the map says I have too many results?

The Colorado Nonprofit GIS map will only display up to 1500 results for one search. For the best results narrow your search by a specific location and other criteria.
