Public Policy Resources

Public Policy and Lobbying

Colorado Nonprofit Association aggressively advocates for the nonprofit sector at the state and national levels.  We research and proactively act on issues of sector-wide importance at the Capitol. We also work with national partners, including National Council of Nonprofits and Independent Sector to address federal issues impacting nonprofits.

Aponté and Busam, a full service political consulting and government affairs firm, represents Colorado Nonprofit Association at the Capitol as well as many other nonprofit clients.   Click here to visit the firm’s website.

Legislative Webinars

During the legislative session, Colorado Nonprofit Association hosts free monthly webinars to give participants the chance to offer feedback on the issues discussed during the 2012 Colorado legislative session.  Check the events calendar to register for an upcoming webinar, or contact Mark Turner at mturner@ColoradoNonprofits.org to learn more.

Public Policy Updates and Legislative Matrices

These convenient tools help members stay up-to-date on current public policy issues. During the legislative session, subscribers to the public policy email list receive periodic updates with summaries of bills of interest to the sector and their progress in the General Assembly. Contact Mark Turner to subscribe to this free email service. Click here for the current updates.

Toolkits

Colorado Nonprofit Association has created a free toolkit for nonprofits’ advocacy efforts. The toolkit provides information about what 501(c)(3)s can do as far as legislative and media advocacy and voter engagement activities and pointers for how to effectively work with public officials and the media. All toolkits are in PDF format.

To learn more about any of these resources, contact Mark Turner, manager of public policy, at (303) 832-5710/(800) 333-6554 ext. 203 or mturner@coloradononprofits.org.
